Why do liberals demand that we "respect people's kinks?" Who benefits from this, and what does "respect" look like? What's the consequence if we don't respect someone's kink?

What I always question is why did the narrative go from "tolerating" people with kinks or different sexualities, to "accepting" to now "respecting". I can tolerate most kinks, and I accept things like homosexuality, but why should I respect any of them? There's no accomplishment in being gay that deserves my respect IMO.

@alyx @AdultHumanFemale9 It's not so much about tolerating and respecting them as people but actually accepting their activism. If you don't want teachers telling children they are transgender you are not being tolerant. It has always been about control and censorship.

Things have evolved and changed over time. It was originally just about tolerating and accepting them as people with their own activities that weren't supposed to affect the rest of us. But somewhere along the way activists went completely insane, and are basically trying to shame you out of society if you don't suck a transwoman's dick.
