I guess it would depend on just how much the rich are willing to pay to have even that slightest bit of edge in influence over government and on how well we manage to tweak the logarithmic function.
@alyx @sjw @nerdman So the richer you get, the less influence you have? I like the idea it being a continuous function. So in the US, the stimulus check can be based off 2019 or 2018 taxes. I didn't file yet because I qualify for the full thing in 2018, but in 2019 I made too much. It's all or nothing. I once did IT at a debt collection center and people on commissioned tried to not earn too much to give up welfare payments. Discrete groups build weird goals/incentives.

The person spending $1001 still has more influence than the one paying $1000, it's just that that extra $1 matters less than the $1 between $999 and $1000, or than the first $1.
The same would hold true for the millionaires/billionaires. Each extra $1 will still give people a marginal increase of influence. And if you think people wouldn't fight for even the smallest marginal increases, maybe you should watch some F1 racing, and see how much those guys spend and invest for even the smallest imaginable performance gains. The organizers literally had to create a rule to deny the teams limitless spending.
