So my family just ordered KFC for New Year’s. Last time we had KFC (about two weeks ago), my dad went off on a brief rant beforehand about how he doesn’t like the popcorn chicken because “it’s got low quality meat” and my mum concurred. It was part of a larger family meal we ordered, and we agreed that I’d eat all of the popcorn chicken because no-one else wanted.
This time we did the exact same order and I assumed everyone had the same feelings towards the contents of the meal. My dad then had a go at me for not offering anyone the popcorn chicken before I emptied the box onto my plate. I then offered him some, only to find out he never wanted any in the first place, neither did anyone else.
He then proceeded to yell at me for “never thinking about others”, ironically, ruining the meal for everyone else at the table. Him going off at anyone trying to get a word in didn’t help the situation.
Am I the asshole here? Should I have offered the chicken even though I knew that everyone else present fucking hated it?
