Just out of curiosity, let's say Biden bites the bullet in his first week in office. Does this mean Harris remains president for the 4 years? Does USA not have a mechanism to call for early elections?

That's pretty bad fam... We have mechanisms in place to replace the president, the government or the parliament if needed. Not all of them are easy to do, cause the criteria for them to happen are pretty strict, but they exist.

Well, firstly the president can be suspended by a majority vote of the parliament, and then completely removed from office by a vote of the people. But the parliament can only call a vote against the president if they deem he violated the constitution. After removal, our equivalent of house speaker would act as temporary president for a few weeks/months until early elections can take place. We call them early elections, but anyone elected would have complete powers, with a full term.
For the government, again the parliament can hold a vote of no-confidence and then decide on a new prime-minister that will form a new government. This procedure has happened quite often unfortunately. No new elections in this case. But if the parliament fails to come to an agreement on who should lead the new government, then I think it's the president who gets to call for new early parliamentary elections. Again, the newly elected parliament would get a normal full term. During this entire time we of course have a temporary government (different from the previous one that was kicked out) but their powers are somewhat limited.
Our constitution doesn't really allow this chain of command replacement thing America has going. We don't just substitute the president for the next in command until there's no one left. We can do it on a temporary basis and with limited power, only to have someone in the chair until we can organize elections ASAP, if the president is kicked out or dead.
