Hold up... maybe there's something I don't understand about how the US system works. Is the talking about THE Government, the one lead by the president, and composed out of people he picks, or the more general idea of all politicians that do stuff all over the place? Cause I don't think he meant to say that Trump lead an insurrection against President Trump.

Then my question is, in that exact moment, who was officially the President of USA? If it was Biden, then it wasn't a president that lead an insurrection. If Trump is already officially an ex-president, then how can he qualify for impeachment? They can prosecute him all they want though.
The reason I'm insisting so much on this, is that Romania has been in the past in a weird position where political figures accused an elected Parliament of attempted coup. I'll spare you the details, but such accusations of an elected political body doing a coup or insurrection against a different political body are ridiculous for me. You need an actual military or paramilitary group to do these things, not unarmed boomers.

Would it be a precedent for an average Joe american to attempt an insurrection against US Government? Seeing that Bernie's key argument is to establish a precedent in law, I'm wondering if there really is the need for it. Did Trump, as a normal person, no longer in public office, do something unprecedented in inciting a mob against the Government? Didn't Madonna literally call for the White House to be bombed or something 4 years ago?
What I'm seeing in that Tweet is a lot of words used for inflammatory purposes, that are not necessarily true, and I'm trying to parse out the political bs.

Ok. Going back the Bernie's tweet, does it make sense to say the president made an insurrection against the government (which in US is basically Trump & people he chose)? Or is it likely Bernie, by "government", meant politicians in general that do stuff and run the state, like including Congress, local governments etc.?

Well that makes sense why they're throwing words around to make it sound reasonable.
TBH, maybe if that's the end goal, it wouldn't be that bad. I wouldn't want him running again in 2024 anyway. He'd be waaaay too old. Both him and Biden are on the limit of what I would accept now (or rather in 2020).
Besides, maybe this way he's gonna push Trump Jr. in his place. That could be an interesting show to watch.
