I've been running it for a while, and the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with is figuring out what AUR was all about. I used Ubuntu and Ubuntu flavors before this.

Haven't set up a new vm in a while. But I think VboxSVGA is the one they considered legacy, and trying to phase it out.

Had a quick look, VboxSVGA is supposed to be used for Windows guests, VMSVGA is the preferred one for Linux guests. Apparently if you don't use them like that, it does't support 3D acceleration.
It's probably a problem with running it in virtualbox. Gonna try a different "driver" setting.
