Spears are supposed to be able to be thrown. Meaning you need them to be symmetrical to fly as straight as possible. That thing on the right isn't symmetrical. So it can't be thrown reliably. Hence, not a spear.

I'm not a medieval arms expert, so maybe I'm wrong, but this is my reasoning behind it.
