Worst defense for the bad Linux mascot: "but they meant for the mascot to be something ugly and non-commercial".

... The entire idea behind even choosing a mascot, is to get people to want to try your product. You're literally saying you intended on driving people away from Linux while you're also complaining that too many people use Windows and proprietary software.

If you intended to make Linux an exclusivity thing, where only the top of the top geeks were allowed to even approach it, then it makes sense to have a shitty mascot.

@alyx i have never met someone who refused to use linux because of the penguin. even if plan 9's :bun: and go's gopher (which is ... basically just the bun again.) make better plushies.
