Do Not Jailbreak Your Amazon Kindle I believe jailbreaking a Kindle gives you so little in return, that it simply isn’t worth it. Customized e-reading apps, screensavers, support for other formats or the removal of adverts is more trouble than it’s worth.

I've got an old gen4 Kindle, broken unfortunately. It was/is jailbroken. Wasn't that much of a hassle. The custom e-reading app was great for pdfs, cause its original support was horrible. Never managed to remove the ads. I don't think the community actually supports attempting to remove them. But it's true that you don't get that many benefits from it. I've had better results with patching Kobo's firmware.
