Weren't the mormons the ones that used to say black people are black because they're extra sinful? But that if a black man was righteous enough, then god would whiten their skin.

@Terry @RUSHIFA @histoire @lewdthewides @HonkeyKong
They had to back paddle on that in recent years, and start accepting black people into the church, cause their numbers are dwindling, so beggars can't be choosers.

@histoire @Terry @HonkeyKong @RUSHIFA @lewdthewides

Not even the mormans have that many kids anymore, and they still end up leaving the Church at high enough numbers to pose a threat for their future.

@histoire @Terry @HonkeyKong @RUSHIFA @lewdthewides

As far as I'm aware, the only religion that is growing in numbers are the Muslim, and even for them the rate at which they're turning atheist is the highest it's ever been historically, and increasing. They just have the advantage that they still multiply faster than people leave the religion.

@alyx @histoire @Terry @HonkeyKong @lewdthewides It's lot like most people even follow the tenets of their religions anyway.

At the same time, I swear the mental gymnastics of muzzies can be on another level though. Good news is most people in religious discussion groups outright laugh at them because they make so little sense.

@RUSHIFA @Terry @histoire @lewdthewides @HonkeyKong
In some ways, Islam is even more full of holes than Christianity. But it also has its own protection mechanisms that make it a lot harder to convince someone their religion is wrong, or once they become convinced to actually leave. And the worst part, unlike most Christian denominations today, most Islam variants are quite dangerous because they do basically promote conquering the world, aka doing war.

@alyx @Terry @histoire @lewdthewides @HonkeyKong When I was handed a free Quran, alongside it I was handed a pamphlet concerning the 'science' of the holy book. It was a fucking trip. It seems a lot of Muzzies think they're also scientists.

@RUSHIFA @Terry @histoire @lewdthewides @HonkeyKong
Yeah, I'm somewhat familiar with most "science" claims made by people interpreting the Quran. It's a lot of generic shit like "wash your hands" that for some reason they think people had no way of knowing in those times unless it came from god.

@alyx @RUSHIFA @Terry @histoire @lewdthewides @HonkeyKong I was an evangelical Christian in high school and I remember conferences with people presenting science for a <10,000 year old Earth. Years later I went to the Creation Museum outside Cincinnati with some atheists on the one free day they have each year. Interestingly enough, the museum didn’t have a lot of the pseudo science I had learned earlier in various ministries.

All that being said, a lot of the current science being presented in various forms by major publicans and mainstream outlets is just as silly as the creations/young earth ideology. I think going through that has helped me identify problems in reasoning and I’m now more critical of what I hear and see because of it.

>All that being said, a lot of the current science being presented in various forms by major publicans and mainstream outlets

Yeah. The weird thing about people is that they tend to worship *something*

That's why you see many "atheists" worshiping science or the state in the place of god

@histoire @HonkeyKong @RUSHIFA @Terry @alyx @lewdthewides One of the people who I went to that creation museum with once told me, “I hate it when people say atheism is a religion”

“Atheism is a religion.”

“Yea it doesn’t upset me when you say it.”

..I think he proved my point :blobcatderpy:

What annoys me is that atheists who defend themselves against that accusation don't actually understand why it's being levied against them.
