What South Park managed very well for a while was to repackage politic subject in ways you couldn't really notice. Now they can't seem to manage to make them as subtle as in the older days.
@nerdman@kiwifarms.cc @alyx@gameliberty.club that was basically wen south park took a shitdive in quality. only recently tegrity farms has brought the quality back a bit

Oh, that one I remember quite well. I guess I'd interpret it as an admission that their work isn't that good anymore, but they're still going forward while accepting that they can't reach the same standard.
I don't remember money being a big theme of the episode, so it's harder for me to see it as "we're still doing it for the money".

I recently saw a clip of the episode, and I think it was Kyle that gives Stan the advice to keep going forward by taking a left turn instead. This I see as an admission that the show can't really continue in the same formula, and they need to change things around a bit. And after that we can indeed see some season wide themes being introduced for instance.
I'm referring to the episode where Stan starts seeing and hearing everything as being shit and cures it by starting to drink alcohol.
I think it's Trey and Matt subtly telling us they really can't give much of a shit anymore.
Still appreciate their efforts.
