Lol, that's literally the opposite. You can't afford to be picky when you're spending a fortune. Imagine spending 20-30k and not getting anything in the end because you were picky, and have to try again, with another 20-30k that you don't have.

Maybe things changed, but the way I knew it was that each egg had a low chance of sticking to the womb, so they went with implanting several at once, precisely because the entire thing is expensive as fuck, and to ensure that the low probabilities of each egg combined leads as close as possible to a 100% chance that at least one sticks. (a cute side-effect is that this can lead to a higher chance of twins if you're lucky enough to get more than 1 egg to stick).

I doubt everyone is gonna go through all the tests anyway, because guess what: those are gonna cost money too. And yes, the IVF itself procedure does absolutely create more down syndrome (which I honestly wasn't even expecting).
