Fuck Etcher.

Manjaro used to have a perfectly good USB image writer utility, but I think it got removed with some update, and for the life of me I can't remember what it was called. I think it was "borrowed" from CentOS or some other distro I've never touched. And now I'm stuck with relying on this Electron crap cause I can't find a decent, simple USB image writer tool.

At least I've managed to find the old tool my Manjaro used to have: Imagewriter. I've got no idea why it wasn't installed anymore.

BTW, if you've got any idea why Windows 10, booted from a USB drive made in Linux doesn't see a NVME disk on a laptop, let me know. Right now I'm trying different tools to make the USB, in case Ventoy was messing something up.

Nevermind... INTEL CAN GO FUCK ITSELF!

For future reference for anyone having to install Windows 10 on Intel 11 gen CPUs.

@coolboymew @alyx Sounds like AMD with their USB issues on Ryzen 3. I actualy experience those bugs often and it's annoying. Once a week my pc hard freezes without a bsod because of it. Always at like 3:30-4AM in the morning too

@ooignignoktoo @coolboymew
Strange... wasn't 3-4AM the usual auto-restart time for Windows auto-update?

@alyx @coolboymew normally it's like 2AM but it's not a windows update. It's something else I think. Only seems to happen when I use Google Chrome and surfing Youtube.

You should look at what other tasks Windows schedules around that time. Could be the drive optimizations or something going on.
If it happens consistently at around the same time, at night, it's very unlikely to have anything to do with the CPU. Hardware issues would cause completely random crashes, at random times of day. If it's consistent enough to notice it happens at night, it's either the OS, or some specific program that has something scheduled to take place at night.

@alyx @coolboymew I did have it crash on me earlier today randomly too. At about 7PM doing the same thing loading a youtube video in chromium. It always seems to freeze during that task. Not sure what is causing it though.

I sometimes get weird browser behavior with streaming video, but it doesn't even manage to completely crash the browser. I have my doubts that it can completely freeze a PC, even a Windows one. But you should try to switch your browser for a while, to try to eliminate this possibility.

@ooignignoktoo @alyx close your browser periodically, especially when you see that it starts chugging
