Am I the only one who gets annoyed when they call forks sourceports?

If the fork is designed to allow the software to work on a completely different platform, I think source port is an adequate term. Not familiar enough with the example you give, but I'm familiar with a few other game engine ports, and I think they deserve that term rather than fork.

but people still call something like gzdoom a source port, forgetting that it's not a port but rather a powerful platform for mods.
