Oh nice. SD cards came in, so I can now stuff things like the offline Wikipedia archive on that and keep it on a tablet next to open street maps. :ablobcatheart:

Why? Also, I know I've looked into this before, wouldn't a comprehensive offline wikipedia be huge in size? Does it even fit on a SD card?

@alyx 50-70gb for a kiwix archive, which fits comfy on a 256gb card.

I see. The cards I have laying around are 64gb max, since the old ass phones I have laying around usually don't accept anything bigger than 32gb. Only one of them takes 64gb, and I don't use them for much else.

but yea the size is onerous and they have trimmed versions of those images for africa i think. still it's nice to have if you can dedicate an archival drive to it. never know when things are going to shit*.

*i don't really like wikipedia but its better than nothing.
@alyx i think what i would prefer is a selection of ebooks from libgen that have been de-spined and shoved in a kiwix archive. but those are kind of weird because they're not legal to distribute :ablobcatgooglymlem:
