So the story goes: I, @fluffy, am a personal friend of the emperor who has sent me to the province of daggerfall to deal with some ghost hauntings. As far as I can gather, empsbro cucked someone so hard they literally died and now they are haunting shit being all cringe and lame like "oh no i got cucked" and this is hurting profits. So they send in The Problem Solver (of justice!).
Unfortunately the boat crashed and I had fight my way out of a cave full of creepy crawlies. I picked up a TON of gear, and was even able to kill one of those terrifying skeletons. Had to run past the imps tho.
Poor @fluffy the nord spawned with no offensive magic, proficiency only in long swords, and I guess the spooky skeletons have a lot of blade resist. Oh and imps are immune to iron. Which is fine since I took the ebony dagger as my perk... but not fine when I can't hit anything with it
The surrounding area is a snowy hillside, with some bandits, and not a whole lot I can see. Turns out you can dash with left shift, neat.
@fluffy@shebang@scarlet@why Fast travel. Always fast travel. Daggerfall is not like cucked Skyrim. It actually is huge, and it's unrealistic to expect to actually go somewhere on foot.
#fluffyplays Daggerfall part 3: Burglary and Quests
As per popular demand, we explored the area on foot. It took a bit of walking, and a surprising amount of combat (two orcs and a centaur) but, we found a quaint little town called Burglary. Main attraction: cows. I was hoping to offload my goods there, but, the general stores don't buy most of what I'm carrying. I sold what I could, and splurged 1 gold coin to pick up some new sandals.
What do the horse and wagon do? Why can't i sell everything at the general store?
The outfits in this game are a little risque. Upstairs from one of the general stores was a girl wearing nothing but a towel, who offered me hundreds of gold coins simply to switch a letter. Talk about easy money! In another store, there was a lady who offered me four hundred gold just to deliver a letter in another town. Being a courier is such an easy gig.
Which reminds me, I was supposed to do something about a letter for my mission here. Ah, well that can wait. Time to go to a larger city and sell the rest of this junk.
@fluffy@shebang@scarlet@histoire@why Horse and wagon are very good. When exploring dungeons, you can stash the loot in the wagon, so you don't have to carry it all yourself back to town.
@fluffy@shebang@scarlet@histoire@why IIRC, there's a time limit to the main quest, but I don't know exactly how much it is, or when the countdown starts. You should search it.
Something else important that I just remembered, if you want to rest in a town, make sure to only do it in an inn room. Using the rest option in town is considered vagrancy and you'll get arrested.
#fluffyplays Daggerfall Part 3: We Finish A Quest!
turns out magebois don't like us all that much. They won't let us join their guild because of how they hate us for our faith, which is a problem. So, we do a quest for them in order to improve the situation.
Just one little quest. Pop over to some dungeon and find... lich dust. In and out five minutes no problem.
...
it wasn't no problem. It was very much NOT no problem. I must have died five times in that dungeon, and I thought I'd never be able to kill a zombie, but by the end of it I was taking on three zombies at once.
The hardest part was *finding* the damn thing. The thing is the sort of maze that would make an egyptian pharaoh proud, with hidden doors and fake dead ends, dozens of mages. I swear I killed thirty men to bring them their stupid dust. But that's no issue: the issue is the twenty to thirty minutes I spent dizzyingly lost. I have pretty good spacial memory, and even for me it was hard to keep track of the whole dungeon. Luckily, I was able to find the dust - in literally the most remote part of the dungeon.
Teleported out. I had picked up the teleport skill before leaving and marked the quest finishing point. So now I have tons of gear, a cart, and the ability to make magic spells via guild admission. First, I'm off to sell all this loot.
Then? I'm not sure. Maybe I'll join the fighter's guild, or move up in the mage's guild ranks. Or maybe do the main quest. What do you guys think?
