Why do people still say "it's the best thing since sliced bread"? Surely since better things than slice bread have been made, shouldn't the saying have evolved by now? Why does no one say things like "it's the best thing since internet" or something?

The internet has been good to me. Since we're still close to thanksgiving, the things I'm probably most thankful for in recent years is the internet and ebook readers.
