@VD15 I slightly disagree, in that I think 1st gen, and maybe 2nd gen too, were games of their time. Everything else, yes, they're basically behind the times.
@alyx No they’re not. First and second gen are some of the buggiest games on their respective systems. It’s almost impossible to do a playthrough of the games without encountering some sort of bug
@VD15@alyx to be fair most of the common bugs in gen 1 are minor, its the really busted stuff (like missingno) you have to really go out of your way to encounter.
@alyx@VD15 >games of their time Dragon Quest V and SMT1 both came out in 92. SaGa 1-3 were already out for 5 years before Red and Blue. Story of Seasons came out the same year and its GB port a year later. Breath of Fire and Suikoden and Chrono Trigger were the state of the art.
RPGs had moved way past Pokemon in 1996, even moreso in 98 when US audiences got it. It becoming a fad stalled the genre as everyone rushed to copy it. The series has significantly damaged all subsequent JRPGs
