quinn: mp3 player :ablobcatnodblink:
so here's a lamp that is too small :blobfox:

i mean i appreciate the attempt i guess :comfymelt:
@alyx yeah it's fine it's just funny how when people don't bother to know you they make really weird choices :ablobcatderpy:

@icedquinn
At this point I legitimately get annoyed/triggered when people go to mp3 as their default file format for whatever they do. There are at least half a dozen other mainstream audio formats that are indescribably better, but people STILL use that shit for everything... and it PISSES ME OFF.

@alyx eh the cheap one i was looking at plays flac and aac too but it's still technically called an mp3 player
@icedquinn @alyx DAP is the term among audiophiles. I guess, they hate mp3 just as much as you guys :comfyjoy:
@newt @alyx when talking to a boomer or gen-x you could get away with calling it a walkman though. :ablobcatgoogly:
@icedquinn @alyx Sony still makes Walkmans, by the way. But they run fucking android for an OS :blobcatfacepalm:

Basically, a phone without the cellular modem and with an overpriced DAC.
@newt @alyx yeah i know. i shopped around. only one in the budget was the little sansa things. would have to transcode to aac.

i keep flacs of what i can but a lot of the library doesn't come in flac. high bit opus to high bit aac is probably not unforgivable though.

either way. i dunno. i'm sure the prevailing opinion is i'm just being unappreciative.

@icedquinn @newt
aac at 320kbps should basically be transparent for anyone, so worst case scenario you'd to opus to 320 aac.
Or you could use neroaacenc, which you can make it do 512kbps constant bitrate IIRC. Though, that's a pretty old encoder, and I'm not sure it still holds up today.
