lol updating GPU drivers on Windows is so pathetic....
oh, it has to be done by the driver software itself which has to launch the installer and then while installing go thru the process of going to black screens switching between... i guess using the driver and not? then maybe restart..

Linux? Mesa updated by the package manager lololol, i guess restart so the new version is running

i had friends who were like "how do i install my GPU drivers on linux" (AMD) - expecting a similar experience as on windows, with a palpable "GPU Driver" with software and an interface that takes care of managing everything for that GPU, being vendor specific

lol it's already installed and working

First time I tried Linux, I had a Nvidia card. But used Ubuntu, so it wasn't that hard to get everything up and running. Didn't stick with Linux though, and was back to Windows.

After a few years, I had an AMD card. Tried Linux again. I expected a similar experience to what I had with Nvidia. Searched around, was a bit confused because the answer didn't seem as clear. Realized there were ALTERNATIVES. Learned Mesa was a thing. Realized I already had the drivers installed from the beginning.
The ending was very anticlimatic.

@alyx@gameliberty.club anticlimactic, yeah, that's one way to describe what it's like when you first learn about how it works lol
