People installing gentoo for fun are insane.
Change my mind.

They're not that far off, but at least they're not compiling everything.
I'm currently using Manjaro myself, and while I wouldn't waste my time installing proper Arch on a main machine, I definitely see the advantage of the Arch ecosystem.

@alyx i understand the absolute freedom and everything, but it sounds like such a hassle tbh

@Kagekokoro
Arch, yes.
Manjaro is as easy as Ubuntu to set up, and as far as I can tell, it has mostly the same benefits as proper Arch.

@alyx hmmmm, sounds interesting.
The issue with Linux, from my standpoint, is the games compatibility and the problemsolving, it takes a lot of time to fix some stuff and I just dont have the patience to deal with it on a weekly basis

@Kagekokoro
That... I can't disagree with. It's much better than it's ever been, and because of Valve's Proton and Lutris, it will keep getting better. But you'll occasionally still find a game that is buggy or just refuses to work.
Although, imo the bigger issue is the support for pretty much any new Windows-only released game. You're basically guaranteed that you won't be able to play on the release day, like Windows gamers can.
