I heard about this.... the story is stupid. The issue is not that it's an electric car. The issue is an overcomplicated door design, that while it had an emergency unlock feature, it wasn't intuitive to use.
Get rid of "smart car" bullshit from your doors and this story wouldn't have hit the news. Problem solved.
