I think Christensen has done some really good work in other movies. I buy into the rumors that his lines were micromanaged by Lucas.

Edit out Jar Jar and some of the silly reasoning for the Jedi in the first movie, and even though it's heavy on setup, I liked it. I thought the "politics" did a good job of showing how The Republic was already a bloated corpse shambling along when Palpatine took control of it.
