I have no idea what you mean by "dotted line", but I usually just use whatever comes with the distro, which currently is Spectacle, and I haven't had issues.

Maybe bad version in your distro repository, or incompatibility with something else.
@alyx anyways, installed flameshot and actually finally bothered to change the printscreen key to it and it works great

Never mind, I think I just saw what you meant by dotted line. Never had that happen to me.
