wayland working fine and nice on a 11 year old intel graphics gpu but not on the nvidia dgpu in the same laptop -w-

I say the age because for nvidia I have to use out of date completely unmaintained legacy drivers

yes, nouveau technically works too but I'd rather not.. I sometimes play games on this and each time I tried nouveau it was a really not nice experience

I wonder if it's any better on wayland compared to xorg..

how does sway/wayland even handle multi-gpu? hmmm

I hope such a low level job, deciding what gpu draws what, isn't left to be handled by the compositor itself but I won't be surprised if this is the case

laptops with dGPUs are a mess lol...

@vib I've always avoided them because they tend to be a nightmare
I'm told AMD/AMD and Intel/AMD setups are fairly pleasant, but those hardly exist, whereas Intel/novideo laptops are everywhere.

My Ryzen/Nvidia laptop worked with Manjaro out of the box, but that's basically only because it still uses xorg. Although I'm not sure if it's fully working, because I've been lead to believe the nvidia GPU doesn't actually get fully deactivated when not in use.

But yeah, go with AMD GPU if you need dedicated and have the option.

@alyx @vib I simply don't expect my laptop to do the job of a desktop
