I kinda avoided using the word fertility, cause that usually brings to mind just the issue of producing viable eggs/sperm. And that in itself wouldn't necessitate a surrogate, because an in vitro egg could still attach successfully.

I'm not aware of what the effects of weight gain and loss are on pregnancy in general, if it does affect the ability to carry a baby, and not just the producing of eggs, then there indeed we go. We have a reason for at least one of them.

Please note, I have no idea who Rebel Wilson is. I don't know who either of those women are.

@alyx @dave adipose tissue basically screws up your hormones, in both men and women. it often increases estrogen activity, which is why moobs are a thing. it also causes aforementioned fertility issues, obese individuals often have trouble conceiving. impotence in men is common, as is lack of ovulation in women. obese women can also struggle with pcos (increased androgen levels, often accompanied with ovarian cysts) which often also causes reduced fertility

it’s why weight loss is usually a first-line treatment for infertile obese individuals. which is why the surrogate thing baffles me even more lol

That's a horrible reason. Also, since it's a surrogate, the default assumption still is that one of them provided the egg. So it's still a case of one of them being more of a mother than the other.

Honestly, maybe the best way lesbians could do this is if mother A provided the egg, and it was in vitro into mother B. One provides the genetics, the other the womb.
