It feels these days that everyone is a book writer. I can't remember the times I came across people whose careers seem to be defined, to some extend, by the fact that they've written books on a subject.
As a quick example, I have great respect for Michael Shermer, but he's ultimately described as a "science writer" or "skeptic", because he wrote books and articles on matters of science and skepticism. But he's not a scientist, or a philosopher, or a journalist, or anything like that. He's a book writer...
