Linux development still depending so much on Linus Torvalds' leadership scares me, even more than what Microsoft is doing with Windows.
With the current political environment, when Linus finally retires (or dies), if he's replacement isn't basically a clone of Torvalds himself, Linux is ripe for a potential collapse.

Here's the thing though, if the main Linux branch doesn't manage to find someone with principles, a backbone, and the technical competence to replace Linus Torvalds, why the hell should I trust that anyone trying to do a major Linux fork actually has the qualities necessary? If they did, I imagine they would have taken over the leadership of the main branch.
