The whole issue reminds me of an older episode of Walking Dead. Let me explain.
When the original gang first stumbled upon Hershel's farm, we were introduced to his daughter that was kinda suicidal, and how her father basically locked her up so she wouldn't off herself. Until Andrea (I think) decided to take matters into her own hands, and gave her a knife, saying "you want to kill yourself, here take this". But she wasn't able to actually go through with it, and afterwards finally managed to start healing.
Moral of the story is that if someone REALLY wants to kill themselves, it's not hard. They can and have done it perfectly fine without the help of "assisted dying" practices. But some people don't actually want to die.
What is actually happening in Canada, is these people don't know what to do anymore. They are lost in their lives. Consciously or unconsciously, they are seeking for guidance. Basically they are looking for a father figure to help them over an impasse....
And then Trudeau's government comes barging in, and their version of guidance is... well technically it's not even "go kill yourself". That's 4chan or Kiwifarms territory. That's giving the struggling person some agency. That's at least telling the person that only they have control over their own life (or death).
No, what Trudeau's government is doing is saying: if you concede all your independence to me, and let me kill you, all your worries will be over.
Assisted suicide has it's place, when it's on a death bed, and the person is confronted with unspeakable pain and misery, and they'd rather die today than after another few months of torment, but they're so weak that they can't even bring a knife to their own throat, or the hospital they're in has stolen so much of their independence and agency that they just can't get their hands on any tool that would be effective at ending their life.
But what Trudeau's government has been doing... it's preying on people in psychological weakened states and mass murdering them.
