Be careful with guides that might be out of date, or for a different distro. Also, why do you need to change swappiness? Or is this about something else now?

Something tells me he's new to Linux. Last thing he needs is experimenting with unofficial kernels.

@alyx @Terry Low latency kernel mods are even in mainstream Ubuntu repos, can't get more user friendly kernel upgrade than with apt.

A distro ships with a certain kernal by default for a reason. If the low latency kernel was the better choice even for beginners, it would have been installed by default, and we wouldn't have been having this conversation.

Also, fuck Ubuntu.
