Excuse me, what?!

I'm "sorry" that you don't even understand how the feature you suggest would actually end up (not) working IRL. When every word can be a #, eventually every word will be a #. And a function who's purpose is to highlight that a word can be marked as # will eventually mark all words as #.
Sure, is a bit of an . But can and will to heights. Again, if you can't this, you haven't see enough .

>infinite hell of checking out hashtags?
Let's say post A has 5 #. I find it interesting. I want to check the 5 # to see if there's anything else interesting going on. I find posts B C D E F, each having another 1-3 different # than the initial 5 #. You see how this can quickly degenerate?

> hashtags are part of the format. if you hate it so much, what are you even doing here?
Look around you, how many # do you actually see people using on here?
And it's not the hashtag itself I hate, I dislike your idea of turning it into a game of "gotta catch'em all".
Do you just not comprehend how your concept is basically your computer being a passive aggressive bitch at you: "Are you sure you don't want to # these words too? Maybe it will get better reach if you do it."

The sad part is, there is a context where suggesting tags is not a bad thing. But it's not in microblogging, and it's not in a way to have it right in your face as you're typing. I think it's a feature in Wordpress and I seem to remember early YouTube had it. Haven't played around with either of these 2 recently, so not sure how they work now.

But that's the part you fail to understand, how big of a difference is between suggesting # after the "creative" process of writing your post, in a segregated text box somewhere, hidden from view for most of the time; and having it front and center, all the time, pestering you on how you need to write your post.
That shit is ripe for manipulation and steering the behavior of users.
