Reality has a liberal bias

That was literally a joke from Stephen Colbert's White House Correspondents speech for George W Bush. 🤣

@djsumdog @icedquinn @r000t is that what it was? i keep hearing that repeated like it's a truism and first of all apparently i am low-IQ because i can't figure out what it means, is it because there's rainbows, for instance? And secondly, comedians can say relevant things, but sometimes things that make great sound bites are really just nothings.

(i'm half joking. I don't know what the phrase actually implies, as 'liberal' has changed meanings since i became an adult)

@picofarad @djsumdog @r000t when they were first rolling out fact checkers i said it would be neat if they instead just annotated where claims seem to have sourced from

also later wondered about doing a similar thing where you broke posts in to sentences and then searched each sentence in a vector db, basically pulling up a list of potential sources (like if someone is trying to toss a quote from ayn rand, or at least the computer thinks its similar to a sentence from it)

Do you remember when fact checker sites started being a thing? Cause I remember still being very interested in the Atheist scene when I heard about it. So it would likely have been in a time period when I still thought Obama and the Democrats were the bee's knees.
I remember thinking it was a terrible idea, and that by default you can't have an organization that decrees what is "The TRUTH™️ ". No single person or organization can decide what is true. I just saw it as a infiltration point for corruption and authoritarianism.

@alyx @icedquinn @djsumdog @r000t yeah i remember. I have a friend that would argue that there's no such thing as objective truth, that is, even if there were, it's unknowable to humans.

I've started 5 different paragraphs 6 times and i dunno where to go from here.
