@mushroom_soup It's a kind of a Ship of Theseus question. If the new dire wolves have the exact same genes as extinct dire wolves, but they weren't created via cloning, but by slowly and methodically replacing genes from gray wolves that were different from the ancient dire wolves until there were no more genes left that were specific to gray wolves, are the new dire wolves actual dire wolves or are they still gray wolves?
