Basically when we joined EU and people were able to freely migrate in other European countries, A LOT of what Trump would call "not the best people" took advantage of the situation and really muddied our name. People who went abroad to find new places to steal money from or just beg in the streets.
Another issue is the fact that people confuse gypsies (Roma by their politically correct name) with Romanians.
There are a lot of hard working and honest Romanians too, and foreigners who get to work with them will praise us, but it's hard to get rid of the stigma.
