Doom 2 is literally more Doom 1, except better.
Doom 3 is so different of a game, that it shouldn't be called Doom. It's just completely different.
The newer ones go back to the original fast paced gameplay.

Going from Doom 3 immediately to Doom 2016 is a very odd experience. Don't know if I recommend it. I keep trying to press shift to sprint... except in 2016 it's mapped to walking, cause Doom Guy always runs, unlike Doom 3's Marine.

If you're thinking of doing a Doom run through all the games, maybe skip Doom 3.
