Unpopular opinion:
Tiktok is just like any other social media platform, it's an amalgamation of people who dunk on the stupid of today's society and people who are the stupid of today's society.

@puniko
Is this worthy of an investigation? Yes. Investigate away. And when you have proof that Tiktok stole something from OBS that has to do with recording/streaming or even the UI, I'll be here with my pitchfork and torch ready.

Until then... this is a bad joke and a disgrace.

@puniko
That's just a bunch of code that checks if you have DirectX properly installed. Not exactly some trade secret.

And considering the filename you linked me "mp-installer.nsi", this tells me we're dealing with a Nullsoft Installer script. As far as I know, that could just be code that it auto-makes if you tell it to check for DirectX. It which case, the only relevant bit is that they used the OBS URL that redirects to Microsoft.

And again, even if you can 100% prove they stole parts of the install script, you do realize how disingenuous it is to accuse Tiktok of stealing code, considering you know damn well everyone will jump to the conclusion that they're stealing the important bits that have to do with recording stuff?

I don't exactly appreciate having to defend something like Tiktok, but how about we actually be honest individuals, and inform ourselves before making accusations, and also make sure we accuse them of the correct thing. There's a massive image difference between "they stole code" and "they stole some bits of the installer script that is used by a third party software to install the relevant software itself". The former already has everybody up in arms and ready to burn people at the stake, while few people will give a crap about the latter.

So until you or anyone else has something that actually is substantial proof, how about we DON'T make such accusations based on a bad screenshot, from an individual that clearly knows jack shit about what he is doing, and jumped to a stupid conclusion cause he saw half of an URL that he recognized.

@puniko
bruh... that's literally a URL that redirects to DirectX9 web installer.
If that's all your proof that Tiktok stole from OBS, try again.

@chinkies
Wait... you mean there are other reasons to be on fedi besides @igelsQTs ?!

@matrix
I don't even get who they think they'd anger with that take. Conservative Christians literally believe that humans are born in sin and they must repent to be allowed in the kingdom of god.

If anything, it's still leftists who'd disagree, since they believe the blank slate hypothesis.

I don't think the left will be able to meme anytime soon, cause they simply don't seem to understand the world view of their political opposition.

@colonelj
I still fail to understand why you're so obsessed with Vee. Are you thirsty for gypsy dick or something?

@icedquinn
Governenments aren't supposed to just print out money anytime they want. That's a recipe for nuking your economy. Politicians used to know this I guess, so they made up taxes. Today's politicians probably forgot that.

@p
Scientists these days are too busy trying to figure out if they can do something to consider whether they should.
So the question is, should you make it use gtk2?

This is like saying Harry Potter pushes people to the truth of witches.

There is plenty of evidence of governments being dumb. You don't need to make up bullshit. Besides, when people realize such documents have nothing to do with what's happening around covid, they'll just call you a crazy conspiracy theorist and ignore what you say.
