My Ryzen/Nvidia laptop worked with Manjaro out of the box, but that's basically only because it still uses xorg. Although I'm not sure if it's fully working, because I've been lead to believe the nvidia GPU doesn't actually get fully deactivated when not in use.

But yeah, go with AMD GPU if you need dedicated and have the option.

I take it you don't have a new Nvidia GPU then, cause last I've heard Nouveau doesn't really work for newer GPUs. From my understanding Nouveau is severely broken for any recent generation.

As for wayland and Nvidia, I'm sure there have been some progress, but there's a reason even Fedora pushed people to xorg if it found Nvidia on the system.
