Ambient occlusion is the first thing I disable, right next to motion blur.
Then shadows go down. After that, I go through everything else as needed.

Maybe it's not the worst, but I used to have a frustrating reoccurring dream where I was playing Half-Life 1, but no matter how much I would shoot, I just couldn't manage to kill Vortigaunts. While people highlighting the media's hypocrisy is not wrong, I feel like people are missing the piece of context that the amount of dictatorial rule Chinese civilians have historically faced is much larger than "muh lockdowns". Their zero-Covid policy is a drop in the bucket of fucked up shit their government does to it's people.

For the Western world, covid lockdowns were THE event that displayed how authoritarian today's left wing governments truly are. For China, covid lockdowns are merely an event.
