Maybe, but not necessarily.
There are indeed some things that are basically invented, forgot and then re-invented throughout history. So objective knowledge does have a way of being guaranteed to be discovered sooner or later.

But artistic works aren't exactly objective knowledge. Besides, the point is that if people lack the opportunities to grow and perform at their best, their contributions get wasted and it slows down the development of humanity as a whole.
There's a reason the last 100 years brought more advancements in science and technology than all of human history, that's because society was able to better make use of everyone's trained abilities. Even someone with just a highschool degree is likely to be more productive and contribute more to society today than the average person would hundreds of years ago.

@deesenaughts
Because western/developed countries provide opportunities for people to grow and perform at their best, while 3rd world countries lack those opportunities.

To make an analogy, imagine if Mozart was born in a poor farmer family, that could never afford to give him any music teaching/training. Maybe he would have grown up to be a decent farmer since he probably was pretty smart overall, but he would have never gained the historical fame he has.

Now as for why those countries lack those opportunities, it's because they didn't manage to develop to the same level as, let's say USA. And to understand why this is, I recommend the book "Why Nations Fail", because the answer is not that simple.

I'm less interested in the trading aspect of bitcoin. I want it to become what it was designed for: a daily used currency than can replace traditional banking.

@11112011
Gold is still more useful than bitcoin currently. Actually, pretty much everyone in the western world has some amount of gold. You got a smartphone or a computer? You've got gold.
As for mining bitcoin, sure it CAN be mined with renewable energy, but that doesn't mean it IS.

I'm glad she managed to fix whatever hormonal problem she had that made her grow a mustache. I'm not that crazy about her dying her hair.

@cowanon
I'll begin with the easy one, the ozone layer. The story was memory holed because the measures needed to fix the problem were already taken decades ago basically. All that was needed was for everyone to keep to the measures (which most people did, except China, which was discovered recently to have restarted using some of the CFC pollutants) and to wait for nature to take its course and "heal" itself, which as you've noted, there has indeed been progress. It's not totally repaired, not by a long shot. But the trend was indeed towards fixing itself (up until the stunt China pulled).

Regarding Mars bacteria, there were 2 false alarms actually. First was from a meteor that landed on Earth, whose origin was established as being martian, which under microscope had structures that looked a bit like fossilized microorganisms. Later it was realized that there were minerals that could form those structures by themselves under natural conditions, and scientists came to the conclusion that it was the more likely possibility. In any case, the entire thing was inconclusive at best.

The second false alarm was them sending a probe on Mars, that scoped some soil, added some heat, water and "food", and analyzed the sample for any metabolic changes. Or in other words, it analyzed whether any byproduct gases were produced that could be the result of bacteria using the "food" and water to live and multiply (similar to how life on Earth expels CO2). And initially they got a result, and had an Eureka moment. But there were 2 problems with it. First they couldn't replicate the result with other soil samples. And second, they later realized that their test itself was flawed, because certain combinations of minerals could produce a chemical reaction with similar outputs to the biological reactions they were expecting. In the end, the entire experiment was once again inconclusive.

Regarding the Air Force pilots stories, I haven't payed as close attention, and it's hard to discuss all of them in writing. The best I can recommend is to check Thunderf00t's videos on the topic. I know Thunder isn't exactly the most respected person right now because of his bad political takes, but he still did a very good job at analyzing some of that released footage.

I'm not familiar with any statements regarding alien tech from any USA official, just with the one from Israel. To be honest, it sounded like either he forgot to take his meds or he was trying to get some attention. Didn't sound too trustworthy to me. He sounded less convincing than Alex Jones. And considering he bragged about being involved with all of that, he provided suspiciously little evidence (which is to say, none at all). So yeah, nobody cared, just like nobody would care if I went outside right now with a cardboard banner with "aliens are among us" written on it.

Do aliens exist? Statistically speaking, it's almost impossible that they don't. But we also have zero tangible evidence of their existence. So it's a bit of a catch-22.

Out of curiosity, what would be an easy (and cheap equipment wise) build to make?

Study harder!

>system of public correspondent education
We have something like that too. We call it "education at a distance". But I don't think it's that easy to get expelled. Only if you're caught cheating or if you don't pay your dues in time.
You can fail to pass the year if you keep failing exams, but as long as you pay to repeat the year, you can continue uni for as long as you want.

Not much to say about the paladin and druid. They both look good, but a bit older than their original Diablo 2 iterations.

Although, I think the sorceress' face would have been a better fit for the amazon, instead of this atrocity. Look at what they've done to my sweetheart!

The sorceress and the assassin look good enough, although I don't remember the assassin being this exaggeratedly asian.
