It's fascinating how a single letter made me change the way I read that name, from the Romanian pronunciation to the English one.

@TheAncestor
I had no idea the word made it into so many foreign media... It feels like other people are using "strigoi" more then us.

Apparently the word has slavic origins. I just looked it up out of curiosity. The word means: having the hair of a wolf.

I'm not a big fan of the Romanian language. I find English much more elegant.

One of the things that I absolutely love about English is how easily you can create brand new words, either through altering a prefix/suffix, or by merging or concatenating 2 previous existing words. And the end result sounds just as natural as any other English word.

You really can't do the same with Romanian. No matter how much you try, "băiat-pisică" doesn't flow as easily as "cat-boy".

We literally had to copy the word "weekend", because a literal translation would be "sfârșit de săptămână", which is way too long and unwieldy, and we just don't have a way to make a good alternative.

If Vee switched to making the exact same content, but in Romanian, I'd probably unfollow him.

@TheAncestor @RUSHIFA
Well... It's not unlikely. I started doing English in school, at an advanced level, from 8 years old, till 14 years old. I was probably already considered fluent at that point. After that, while I wasn't doing advanced English in high-school, the internet came in my life, so I've just been using it more and more anyway. About 90-95% of the internet content I interact with is in English.

@TheAncestor @RUSHIFA
Oh yes. I picked up English from cartoons and movies before I even learned how to read or write.

I was a bit shocked back then too, as I perfectly understood what she was implying, but regardless, the scene was and still is hilarious.

>They removed most 32bit back compat stuff...

I haven't used Windows 10 in recent years in a large enough amount to notice any of this. Usually I end up doing some installs for a cousin, and I haven't encountered any problems with 32bit software. Although, the only legacy software I deal with for him is Winamp (because I can't be bothered to teach him some other music app, and he can't be bothered to learn anyway).

I know about the 16bit removal from Windows 8, and even back then I remember hearing something about some work-arounds to keep stuff working. As always, Windows users were still adamant about keeping that stuff working.

Maybe they did start removing more back compatibility stuff from Win10, but so far I haven't managed to hear or witness any effects. I've got a secondary Win10 laptop, that I don't use much, but I've played a few games on it from around 1999-2001 just fine (in the last year). So whatever 32bit stuff they might have removed, clearly it wasn't that much.

I'll tell them how China made Western countries pay for technology than China stole from the very same western countries.

Nah. The original aesthetic of the show worked better to illustrate the silliness of having the Grim Reaper be the slave of a bunch of kids.
