Hulk Hogan tried to get the bats that killed Ozzy Osbourne, but he wasn't the young man he used to be, and hadn't practiced wrestling for too long. He failed to avenge Ozzy. RIP Hulk.
@Soy_Magnus
Don't know who Shanny is. Razor is on YouTube and Rumble too. He's cool. Never watched Styx enough to get a good sense of what kind of person he is.
@Soy_Magnus
Stopped listening to Atheist Experience around 2017-2018 and it was headed in that direction. I only mentioned Dillahunty in my rant, but all of them started losing it.
Literally heard the worst argument for abortion on that show. Forgot how it went exactly, but the essence was that a body's normal biological processes somehow violate that body (pregnancy itself was somehow rape). In which case, I realized that in the same vein one could argue for the right to abort feces (if you can argue "I didn't consent to my body becoming pregnant, even if I chose to have sex", you can argue "I didn't give consent to my body making me shit, even if I chose to eat food"). And if your argument can become that absurd, clearly something has to be wrong. Stopped listening to the show that day.
@djsumdog @icedquinn
I need to know, do people actually read on their e-reader with fonts that big, or did you just increase it for the photo?
@berkberkman Didn't follow him. And he was pretty much always a shit stain on the internet. He's likely better known for feminism activism than atheist activism.
Man... the Atheism movement is so fucked.
Christopher Hitchens died.
Daniel Dennett died.
Sam Harris' brain probably turned to mush over his obsession with Trump. Can't remember the last time I heard him say a word on Atheism related topics. He will occasionally attack Islam if prompted, but it has only been if the topic is Israel-Gaza. I haven't heard him say something about UK's issues for instance. So conclusion, Sam Harris is useless now.
Richard Dawkins (was my personal favorite of the bunch) is literally afraid to speak anymore. He's been given the opportunity to talk on the UK Muslim thing, and he just refused.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali literally declared herself Christian, because she realized Atheism got completely cucked.
That's what happened with the "horseman of Atheism".
Now let's look at some of the minor figures.
David Silverman was literally falsely MeToo-ed out of the movement, and went into selling insurance or something like that. By his claims, he's making good money.
Matt Dillahunty went locco even before Harris, and I think was involved in canceling Silverman.
Seth Andrews, I've stopped following him a while ago out of boredom, but I occasionally see some of his episode titles, and it doesn't inspire confidence that his brain is still fully functional. He's not innocent on the Silverman thing either. But at least he was just a cucked that believed all women, and wasn't an attack dog.
TJ Kirk... Need I say more?
Hemant Mehta is a douchebag creep (by my own experiences).
Aron Ra, turns out he's also a complete scumbag. Also got involved in cancelling people.
Thunderf00t's brain has broken over his obsessions with Elon and Trump. He hasn't done anything Atheism related maybe for a decade.
Hugo and Jake... one got so fat that he gaslight himself into thinking he's trans, and the other went insane (literally put on a banana suit in the middle of an online debate).
The Armoured Skeptic is the weirdest conspiracy theorist you've met. Complete "history isn't what they tell you it is" levels. Not Antisemitic mind you, so no claims of false history surrounding that. Just everything else.
C0ct0pus (from the Goddamn Podcast) now does weird drama streams about some random fat ugly bastards.
And there's so many other small YT channels I'm still aware of that just disappeared since forever ago.
Like seriously, from the biggest figures in the movement, to the smallest guys I know, they either died, became deranged, or just moved on to something else and abandoned the cause.
@coolboymew You must have never heard of Mauler or EFAP if 4 hours scares you.
@Humpleupagus @icedquinn @m0xEE
You think we'll find Christopher Hitchens frozen somewhere? Cause we desperately need someone like him.
@m0xEE @icedquinn
Kinda. Besides, for a while people managed to gather together just around being truth seekers and appreciating scientific discourse.
But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Or in other words, Atheism+ came along, as a bunch of power hungry psychos, pretended they had the real moral truth, and wanted to control how everyone in the community behaved.
Before people talked of social-justice, before intersectional feminism, before talks of critical race theory and DEI, before "woke", it was Atheism+. And it ultimately dissolved the community. The old groups that were supposed to advocate for Atheism and defend the separation of Church and state in US, now advocate for literally anything else but that.
That's what happens when you let these types of people in. Everything you worked for gets sabotaged and derailed.
The Vshojo drama made me think about something... it's a bit of a stretch, but hang on with me.
So there's one thing that religions and Churches usually get credit for. Building communities. Even the Atheist movement acknowledged that one of the big reasons people don't abandon Christianity, even if they don't actually believe in god anymore, is their need to be in a community. And it's the thing I would hear a lot from Atheist figures that we needed to get better at. (Atheists never did manage to build healthy communities. Instead it all went completely to shit).
Well, I've been thinking now... are vtubers the new churches?
Like look at this shit, Ironmouse makes a video, then more vtubers and people covering the drama follow suit, and before you know it, you have a community raising over $1 million for charity. Isn't this one of those things we expect out of churches? To bring people together, to unify under a goal, and do good deeds (charity) together? And it's hardly the first hugely successful charity event vtubers lead.
And I guarantee you there are people of completely opposite sides of the political spectrum in the streams of the most popular vtubers. So they're definitely able to build a community and have people set aside differences for a couple of hours.
"But Vtubers don't preach, you dummy". You sure? I've seen plenty of examples of vtubers telling people "hey, don't be that guy". I've seen them setting moral examples and telling people right from wrong. It's not the sort of nagging preaching, sure. But then again, good priests weren't supposed to feel nagging.
We're in a new age. Why shouldn't our spiritual leaders be completely different from what we're used to? Who's to say Jesus has to reincarnate in ragged clothes? Maybe he can reincarnate as a cute anime waifu?
@icedquinn The problem is, can you trust them not to backstab you literally immediately? Cause I don't. I think a movement to counterattack VISA/Mastercard would just be healthier without them. If they want to do a thing in parallel to protect LGBT content, good luck to them. But I don't think we can allow them in our communities. We've seen since ElevatorGate what they do. These people have broken more communities and sabotaged more movements from the inside than I can count.
Remember when "New Atheism" was a vibrant movement? Remember Reason Rally and how amazing it was for the movement? And then remember how it flopped and disappeared as soon as "social-justice" got involved?
These people simply aren't allies. They are poison. They'll do what they always did. Pretend to care for the same things, and then immediately try to assume power and take over your movement. After which, it dies out.
@rin If you look at it objectively, he was a bit of a psycho. But we still view Țepeș as one of our best rulers we've ever had.
@icedquinn You know the saying... even a broken clock.
The thing that pisses me off to no end is that pre 2010s, it was the left that fully advocated against censorship in media.
Then proceeded more than a decade of the "liberal" left, the progressives, the feminists, the social-justice warriors, whatever label you want to use for them, that started advocating for censorship in media. Now that they finally realized it's a problem (after ignoring everyone else that was screaming at them all this time to stop), NOW they're pretending to come around and realize "oops, this ain't good". All I have to say is a sincere "fuck you" to all those people.
I don't even care that they finally agree with me on something. I don't actually want them as an ally and I still want them to suffer deeply at this point. These kinds of people abused my goodwill for a decade, and they helped bring this into effect in the first place. I'm a very forgiving person, but I have my limits.
@VD15 Don't you just love free healthcare though?
@MK2boogaloo My hunch is that Tetris would just help your brain shut down. Basically, you're enabling yourself to disassociate. Don't know if you're actually preventing trauma as much as repressing it.
No, I didn't read some study. Yes, I am making it up, by using reason and knowledge of how people play Tetris.
@yockeypuck I wonder if they realize how incredibly disturbing their "art" is? I bitched some time ago about how much I HATE soyjack memes, because they're nightmare inducing disturbing, and this feels to me to be on a similar level.
@Terry I say we just use the "divide your age by 2, and add 7" rule. Make it the legal standard.
@georgia
>what ideology is this
It's not. That's the beauty of it. Ideologies have a bad habit of turning into Soviet Union or 3rd Reich.
