So apparently you can actually disable Specter/Meltown fixes in Linux to mitigate those CPU performance losses. I just did that, but honestly I don't know if I'll manage to tell the difference.

KDE's taskbar decided to fuck up, and I had to reset it's settings. Now struggling to remember what order I had my taskbar icons in.
