My great grandfather had a nickname that is somewhat equivalent to the word "kike", although less offensive imo. Why did people call him that? I don't know. I asked my father and he doesn't know. Only thing I know is that he wasn't Jewish.

No. I'm just Romanian. I just don't get offended by people calling me gypsy, so I usually don't correct them when they do.
As to why I don't get offended, it's because I know that people who call me gypsy if they hear I'm Romanian are either incredibly stupid or they do it to try to annoy me. The easiest way to deal with such people is to not get annoyed.
Also, gypsy is an ethnicity, not a nationality.

I never argued on what the Talmud endorser or not, just that ancient writings don't necessarily have a relevance in the way today's version of the religion is practiced.
