I've been humming a song in my head for a few minutes now, and I couldn't really figure out what it was, until it hit me: it was the end credits song from HL:Alyx.

Who here knows what a quince is or has eaten one?

They're one of my favorite fruit, but recently I realized I've never learned their English name, because I've never seen them being portrayed or talked about in any kind of media, movie, shows etc.

So now I'm curious, if it's really that rare in other places.

I'm not a big fan of the Romanian language. I find English much more elegant.

One of the things that I absolutely love about English is how easily you can create brand new words, either through altering a prefix/suffix, or by merging or concatenating 2 previous existing words. And the end result sounds just as natural as any other English word.

You really can't do the same with Romanian. No matter how much you try, "băiat-pisică" doesn't flow as easily as "cat-boy".

We literally had to copy the word "weekend", because a literal translation would be "sfârșit de săptămână", which is way too long and unwieldy, and we just don't have a way to make a good alternative.

If Vee switched to making the exact same content, but in Romanian, I'd probably unfollow him.

This happens too often imo.
