Haven't watched all of it, but it looks accurate.
Today's dream featured 2 "classic" PCs:
- Pentium 2 PC with Windows 98 installed
- Pentium 3 PC with 512MB ram and 1GB SiS GPU, with a AMD cooler on the CPU, and Windows 98 as OS (although I was planning to put XP on it, mostly because I was having trouble getting the audio to work).
Also both systems had their own CRT monitor.
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry quick review:
The fan service... omg the fan service...
Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but it does have some nicely done fan service, and it incorporates it rather well.
The story itself is the usual affair. The usual sword fights with magic mixed in, with a protagonist that supposedly lacks natural talent for the magic part, but with hard work, against all odds, he rises to the top.
Nothing fancy or particularly noteworthy, so it doesn't get more than 7/10 from me, but it is still good enough, that if you're looking for a short 12 episode anime, it gets a definitive recommendation.
Never enough RGB.
Now, for main post for today, review on Fairy tail 2014 and 2018.
From what I remember from the manga, the story is adapted accurately, and there's not much difference between the two. If you liked/hated the manga volumes that cover this part of the story, don't expect much difference... but....
Oh boy... here it comes... Somewhere around the middle of Fairy Tail 2014 is filler hell. Some are adapted from omakes, some are 1-2 episode stories that are cute and ok... and then there's the absolutely worst filler in all the anime I've watched. Naruto filler is A+ compared to it. This one is completely nonsensical. I can't explain much more about it, because I still didn't understand what exactly happened in the story and why.
As for Fairy Tail 2018, the main faults are those it inherits from the manga. It had at least half a dozen opportunities to have a satisfying and meaningful death for important characters. Fairy Tail 2018 backtracks on EVERY SINGLE ONE. Also, Grey attempts suicide via Iced Shield for the 100th time, and Natsu stops him again, for the 100th time, giving him the usual speech about living or something.
Fairy Tail 2018 has the most over the top conflict of the story, that was build up for years, and the consequences are just that a very old and frail man is now in a wheelchair (even though we were given the "he's dead" scare).
As for how over the top the conflict is, think 2x Naruto's Kaguya, except these guys really were build up, from way back during the original run of the anime.
Fairy Tail 2014: without the filler, 8/10. With the filler, at best 7/10.
Fairy Tail 2018: 7/10
Verdict: it's ok if you're already invested in the series, but if you aren't, getting past that filler is gonna be a struggle.
Natsu x Lucy is basically canon.
That being said, there's a lot of relationships that are heavily hinted at in Fairy Tail and VERY little is actually shown. So don't expect anything to be concluded, even in the 100 Years Quest.
