gonna try to buy this random old Pentium MMX laptop I want in hopes that the "screen not working" is just them neglecting to hit the "switch display" button

damn it I lost the bid, whatever that is what fate determines... I want an MMX or P2 laptop but there's nothing "cool" for cheap anymore, of course
