@Dicer don't even get me started on the "we had no choice but to nuke them" take

@arc @Dicer Literally just had to assure the Japs that they would get to keep the emperor - which ended up happening anyway. But no, the surrender had to be Unconditional.
@ChristiJunior @arc @Dicer Always remind American patriots that Soviet Russia and Communist China wouldn't exist without America's intervention in WW2. America saved communism.
@ChristiJunior @arc @Dicer The Japanese were ready to end the war and so were the majority of American generals who were against using nukes but (((they))) were deadset on testing their new toy on Japan.

The whole "we had no choice" is nothing but bullshit propaganda to excuse one of the worst warcrime ever committed.

Also the Americans, French and English committed plenty of atrocities of their own during colonial era China. It sure was convenient to put the focus on Japan's activities after the war.
@Tamamo @ChristiJunior @arc @Dicer The Opium Wars were a thing. Whatever wrongs the French and Americans committed against China in the past have nothing on that.
@Tamamo @ChristiJunior @Dicer @arc I remember a history teacher back in high school (and mind you that I'm not even in the US, and this was a very, very long time ago) saying "oh, the Japanese deserved the bombs after what they did in Pearl Harbor". Because leftist brainrot is a thing in here too, and anything was justified agains "le ebil nahzees".

I remember telling her something like "Are you really saying that attacking a military outpost deserved weapons of mass destruction being launched in cities full of civilians as response? Weren't the Allies supposed to be the good guys here?"

Long story short, she never liked me and the only reason I didn't flunk that year was because history is not a serious subject matter and no one cares about the grades on it.
@Suzu @ChristiJunior @Dicer @arc Not to mention they already knew the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was coming but instead of intercepting the Japanese they choose to let it happen so (((they))) could use it as propaganda for America to join the war.
@Tamamo @Suzu @Dicer @arc FDR did everything he could to provoke Japan into attacking the US, absolute Traitor.
@Tamamo @ChristiJunior @Dicer @arc yeah and also reminder that it was the americans that were dead set on the unconditional surrender thing. Also the soviet union literally worked and starved to death its own people not just during the war but before and after too and nobody gives a fuck about that cause they were on the "good side". they literally had to make up the whole holocaust numbers and stories to make it look like germany was way worse.
@Tamamo @ChristiJunior @Dicer @arc also there's any reasoning at all why the official stories saying that the germans used gas chambers to kill jews instead of other means? like why? why they would go to the trouble of building, maintaining, and fueling those huge facilities when they could had just shot all of them with a machine gun instead and either burn or drop them into a mass grave? im sure bullets cost less than maintaining and fueling the gas chambers, especially the oil for the furnace when germany was in an oil shortage
@Tamamo @ChristiJunior @Dicer @arc like really i remember watching a video from potential history and he said in his last barbarossa video that the germans lost in parts of cause they run out of oil and then saying that btw they used it for the holocaust and i was like what? :IllyaHuh: then i though why they even built the chambers in the first place or why simply shooting them wasn't enough :laugh_evil:
@Tamamo @ChristiJunior @Dicer @arc i guess it would had been for the furnice that burned the bodies? but still why the gas and why mass graves wasn't good enough? like a remote location where the rotting bodies wouldn't be an issue. how convinient that all the bodies burned up into ashes with almost nothing left lol
@Yako @ChristiJunior @Dicer @arc I mean, in every other country ran by a tyrannical despot undesirables simply got shot instead of using convoluted methods.

But, hey, don't think too much about it. Nazi's bad.
@Tamamo @ChristiJunior @Dicer @arc also back to japan for a bit, its quite funny that one of the major reason they lost cause they lost 4 of their best carriers cause the us decrypted their comm and knew the plan :cat_laugh: the decryption still technically could had happened after perl harbor and midway, idk how much time was between the two rn but if it was short then its sus
@Yako @ChristiJunior @Dicer @arc If you want to ruin your mood for the evening watch the movie Mr Jones on how the Soviet Holodomor was covered up to the west.

@Tamamo @ChristiJunior @arc @Dicer Notably, Nagasaki in particular was the largest concentration of Christians in Japan at the time, and afaik was not a particularly important military target.

Much like the firebombing of Dresden, Germany, a civilian target with large significance to the history of Christendom.

There were certainly (((religious))) motivations to choosing these targets.
