@puniko people question themselves when you show them facts, their emotions are what get in the way because people don't like to be uncomfortable. you can only hope they get over it one day and realize the truth.
@beardalaxy people basically have to have no opinion to start with or otherwise have to be in a selection period where they are shopping for one. i have this paper pilfered from p that talks about media propagandizing candidates and they found the only people generally informed about anything were the unaffiliated
i don't believe persuasion exists and have made something of a meme about that.
there is a persistent disaster where people will stay married to failure so long as it limps along however slowly and painfully and they will only re-enter the selection period when they hit rock bottom. which means if you can shim a crap system alive you can keep people trapped in it.
there is the horizon problem, sure, which says we never know if exploring just one more set of tree branches will bring a reward. but that problem acknowledges that at some point we have to say enough and walk away. the sunk cost fallacy people get in to ... refuses to terminate the search, even though nothing has been found for ages.
