@Humpleupagus @lamp i understand what you're saying. you don't have to condone pedophilia or think people who have it are good people or whatever, that is entirely your prerogative. that's not what the poll is about though, it's whether you want to KILL them because of it or not.

if my neighbor had a mental issue that caused him to wish to murder me and eat me, i'd either never know until he busted into my house in the middle of the night (in which case he's getting shot), i got randomly killed by him, or if he posted his fantasy online somewhere and someone showed it to me. in that case, i'd likely confront him and bring some backup but not kill him or anything. probably be on guard after that though. if there is something actually severely wrong with his mental state, maybe try to get him some help with trained professionals. should he be punished cruelly or killed for that though? i don't think so.

it's like my friend venting frustrations to me on the road. "yeah i'd like to pit maneuver that jackass and pop a cap in him." he's not going to do it even if he's fantasizing about it, and shouldn't be punished unless he actually does. likewise, people who say they want to kill pedophiles shouldn't be punished for saying that either. they're not actively threatening anyone, they just believe that pedophiles shouldn't be alive. until they actually harm someone or threaten to harm someone, i still believe they have the right to wish whatever they would like to wish.
