@dommymommy mainly video game OSTs, and by video game OSTs i mean mainly a loop of chrono trigger/cross and various touhou covers. doesn't matter what genre it is, if it's touhou i'm gonna' like it. i also like listening to studio ghibli and silent hill music for relaxation.

beyond that and going into "real" music though, i typically listen to metal. pretty much everything under the sun, but once it gets into the point where i can't understand the singer even if the lyrics are right in front of me or the drums sound like they're just a bad washing machine, that's when i stop xD

i'll usually have a particular genre or band i'm into for a short period of time, and listen to nothing but that for like a week or two. then it'll switch to something else. a couple years ago it was lana del rey, there was a time where it was depeche mode, etcetera. the real mainstays though are metal and touhou (and when you put those two together.... sweet god: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugqjcXjpCts)

i typically like stuff that's more melodic, which is why those classic game OSTs are so great to my ears, it's before a lot of games went to more ambient vibes.
